New Car Purchase Research
This is a collection of the information I gathered while I was deciding
what kind of new car to purchase. My former car was an '88 Honda Accord
Lxi 5sp Hatchback which served me well. My goals for my new car were for it to
be no smaller than my old car, preferably with a larger back seat. I had a
preference for it to be all-wheel-drive, partially because I take snowboard
trips to the Lake Tahoe, CA area during the winter season. I also wanted
it to be at least a little bit sporty, even though it would be a primarily
practical car.
The cars which made it onto my "test-drive" list were:
- Honda Accord Coupe
- Toyota Camry v6
- Subaru Legacy GT
- Audi A4 2.8 Quattro
- Jeep Grand Cherokee
Here is some of the information I used to make my decision. I bought a
1998 Subaru Legacy GT Sedan.
- car feedback - an email I sent
to someone summarizing my comments about the cars I drove.
I wrote this out immediately after driving the cars, and
compiled this email after making my purchase.
- All-Wheel-Drive
Info - This is a wonderful overview of
all-wheel-drive technology since it's inception.

Here is some useful information for fellow Legacy GT owners:
- my list of gripes - I love
this car, however, no car is perfect and here are my gripes or problems
with the car.
- Disable that alarm chirp! -
I'm not so fond of the annoying alarm chirp, so here is how to disable
it. I'm going to include pictures when I get a chance. If you want them,
bug me via email and I'll get to it quicker.
