Projects [David W. Jeske]
Commercial stuff which you can use or buy that I had a hand in creating:
Slightly bigger open-source stuff:
- ClearSilver -
cross-language web-templating technology that encourages
keeping html complexity out of code.
- Netcon - an
operational machine monitoring package. Fully configured
through a web-ui, graphing, alerts, incident notes,
value and trend-based triggers.
Open Source Tidbits
Stuff which you can read about:
- Trakken - a support email focused "shared mailbox" CRM tool. Based
on some of the ideas from Packrat.
- Willowmail - Advanced webmail including search, threads, contact manager, wiki, calendar, and more. (python, clearsilver)
- MythTV - my mythtv setup journal
- R/C Slope Soaring - fun with unpowered remote control models
- PauseFreeGC - my efforts and investigating
pause free garbage collection
- OpenBundle - an unfinished proposal for adopting Nextstep-style app-wrappers on Gnome, KDE, etc.
- Java_and_DotNet - highlights of Java and .NET
- GoodIdeas 2003 - My editorial review of good ideas in computer software which are not yet ubiquitous
- DPL (Dave Programming Language) - a ficticious language design to facilitate the structing of good programming language ideas.
- eGroups Mysql Cluster - information about the MySQL cluster used to run an early version of eGroups.com
Older open source projects and prototypes:
- 2000-2002 HZ -
my real-time action strategy engine.
My original intention is to create a a clone of
the great Sega Genesis game Herzog Zwei.
It puts the strategy back in real-time strategy gaming,
or rather, it put it there to begin with.
(FYI: 'Herzog Zwei' is german for 'Lord Two'. The
english pronunciation is close to 'he-a-tsuk zvei')
- 1999-1999 p4UI - A prototype
Perforce UI based on the SourceSafe GUI.
- 1996-1997 UnixTools -
a UNIX package/encap system.
- 1996-1998 Packrat - An email client and
personal information manager prototype. Based on virtual folders, and searching,
Packrat frees you from having to spend time filing items while making it
easier for you to find what you want.
- 1995-1996 S3MOD - a tracked music
file player. Plays ".mod" and ".s3m" files. For Linux,
DEC, SGI, Sun.
- 1992-1996 Gtalk - a multiline chat package
for DOS, OS/2, and UNIX (source available!)
