Halfdome Pictures

Here are some pictures from my hike up to the top of Half-Dome at Yosemite. For the record, this was an insane trip. We left San Jose at 4:50am; reached Yosemite aroud 9am; were hiking by 9:30am; reached the top of halfdome at 4:20pm; spent about 40 minutes at the top; reached the bottom at 9:30pm; ate dinner; and then made it back to San Jose by 4am. If that isn't crazy, I don't know what is.

I made this trip with my friends Hector Yee and Sunnin Shih (who orchistrated the trip, and brought the starburst!), both of whom I know from working at 3Dfx.

Here I am sitting at the edge of peril. Over the edge, just a mere 12 inches from my feet is a sheer vertical drop of over 4000 feet down to the valley floor.

Most people wouldn't get this close to the edge. My companions were surprised enough they told me to "stay there" so they could snap this photo.

A few minutes later my exhaustion wore off, I realized what I was doing, and moved back from the edge. Good thing I wasn't thinking.

Wow, what a great picture. This is a picture of all three of us just as we reached the top. Although it was taken by another random hiker, I have my suspicions that she was a professional photographer in another life.

Another picture of all three of us. The place I was sitting in the first picture is just behind us.
